The Chip Wells Interview...
Chip Wells is a businessman and committed Christian from Cordele, GA. “I have some mechanical aptitude with my hands and wanted to find a way to use this talent for the kingdom”. Chip said during our interview explaining why he sought training to learn well drilling.
So, through his church, Chip connected with a local agency whose mission was to provide clean drinking water to people of the Secure River Valley of north central Bolivia.
While preparing for a trip to Bolivia in 2014 he discovered a well drilling course offered by Equip International. The course was scheduled the same week his team was to leave for Bolivia. The five day hands on course started on Monday but he was only able to stay till the end of the day Thursday because his flight left on Friday.
“The training I received in those four days was invaluable. Without it our team would not have been able to drill a well once we arrived.”
Chip and other team members, drilled their first well that week. They have drilled two other wells in subsequent trips with ambitions plans to drill 80 new wells over the next ten years. The people groups in this jungle region live along the river where they bathe, water their animals and dispose of waste in the same place they draw water to drink and cook their meals. Not surprising, many suffer from illnesses caused by waterborne pathogens.
As this team planned for future well drilling trips Chip recommended church members Andy Adams and Scott Reyher, travel to NC this spring for similar training. Here’s what they had to say about their experience:
"I am thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to meet and work with the brothers and sisters at Equip. Their love and hospitality, as well as spiritual and technical training, are all top-notch. I hope to return to their beautiful campus in Marion, NC for future courses." - Scott Reyher
“What I liked about the training was the fact that the trainers stressed the fact that we will open doors to share the gospel by offering the water wells. This helped me grasp the truth that we will be doing more than just putting a hole in the ground The team there at Equip are more than instructors they are partners in the our mission to dig clean water and sharing the word of God.“ - Andy Adams
